He performs with his folk/trad/bal-ensemble aeLiXihr and as soloist. His repertoire consists of own compositions and arrangements in the western-European tradition from the North Sea region and classical repertoire from different style periods, as well as "finger-style" guitar, Spanish, celtic and South-American works.
He started playing guitar at the age of eleven. Later he studied guitar at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam (1994-1999) with Lex Eisenhardt and Theo Krummeich, at the Messiaen Academie in Zwolle (1999-2001) with Hans de Weerd and at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid with Gabriel Estarellas.
In addition, he studied flamencoguitar with Eric Vaarzon Morel and jazzguitar with Hans Kunneman and took many masterclasses with ao. Sergio Assad, Roberto Aussel, Mats Bergström, Jacek Dulikowski, David Russel, Darko Petrinjak, Sonja Prunnbauer, Juka Savioki, Raphaella Smits, Scott Tennant, Benjamin Verdery, Jacob Vlijm, Wolfgang Weigel and Laura Young.
